(http://providence.jwuathletics.com/) The Johnson & Wales women's volleyball team swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match with Albertus Magnus and Lasell at Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon. In the opener, JWU posted a 3-0 win over Lasell (31-29, 25-19, 25-23) and completed the day with a 3-0 victory over host Albertus Magnus (25-11, 25-23, 25-11).
In the win over Lasell, senior Catherine Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) recorded her third straight triple double for Johnson & Wales, tallying 16 kills, 12 assists and 10 digs while senior Nikki Balchunas (Brockton, Mass.) had seven kills and 10 digs. Freshman Ashley Rey (Miami, Fla.) added 26 assists and six digs in the win.
Junior Erin Leahy (Reading, Mass.) paced JWU in the victory against Albertus Magnus, tallying a team-high eight kills. Sophomore Karlie Haack (Selkirk, N.Y.) registered seven kills and nine digs while Rey had 16 set assists for the Wildcats.
With the two wins, JWU improves to 7-6 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league play. The Wildcats will return to action on Sunday, September 26th when they travel to Mount Ida for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest, starting at 11:00 a.m.
